The inscription reads -
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
HAROLD SANDERS SALTER
OF THE ROYAL 1ST DEVON YEOMANRY
WHO DIED WHILE SERVING HIS COUNTRY
AT RAFA IN EGYPT, DEC. 24TH 1917.
AGED 30 YEARS.
TO BE WITH CHRIST; WHICH IS FAR BETTER
R. I. P."345217 Lance Corporal Harold Sanders of the 1st Garrison Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Fanny and the late Frank Sanders Salter. Born in Musbury in the June Quarter of 1887. Died 24 December aged 30."
