Es: “Fui un tiempo antigua fortaleza real de los moros, de quienes me rescató con su valor el rey Alfonso. Más las guerras y el tiempo pasaron por arruinarme, y por obra de Ulloa, renazco ahora como hermosa mansión"
En: "I was once a former royal fortress of the Moors, from whom King Alfonso rescued me with his courage. But wars and time have ruined me, and because of Ulloa, I am now reborn as a beautiful mansion."
This inscription is on a tombstone that commemorated the rebuilding of the Casa de las Veletas. The king referred to is Alfonso IX of León, who definitively took the city in 1227
