Archbishop Hamilton dedicated this brass plaque in memory of Sergeant Glenholm Wilson in the old St. Matthew's Anglican Church in 1917. He was a member of 38 Ottawa Overseas Battalion and was killed in action on November 18, 1916 on the Somme, France.
When the new St. Matthew's Anglican Church was constructed next door in 1930, the plaque was installed in the South East corner of church. Prime Minister Arthur Meighen spoke of Glenholm Wilson's heroism at the dedication and read a portion of his last letter home, "If I fall thank God it will be that I shall have died doing my duty."
