The Crane Paper Company is the sole manufacturer of the paper used by the U.S. Treasury Department to make paper currency. The high quality security paper is made from cloth rags.
Crane Museum of Papermaking is located in the Old Stone Mill Rag Room where rags were stored and sorting at the start of the paper making process. The building has a step roof line and a central entrance. The structure is three bays wide and seven bays long.
On display is a collection of items that are uses to describe the history of paper making at the Crane Paper Company. In addition to paper for the government the company manufacturers a wide variety of fine paper products.
