The Quaker opened in 1940 and its Art Moderne facade was covered in a fake white brick in the 1970's. It was twinned by adding a wall that ran the length of the auditorium and shortened the remaining spaces. The exterior was restored in 2014 and work was begun to restore the auditoriums.
