The first landing here was on November 24, 1911, when a pilot named Robert Fowler landed his Wright Biplane at what is now Ranger Municipal Airport. It is believed that this is the third-oldest airport in Texas. There are two grass strips 1/19, at 3415 feet, and 18/36 at 1850 feet. A historical marker across the street gives some history of this airfield.
