NL Toen ik Hilversum binnenreed voor een klusje zag ik meteen dit mooie tankstation. Ik ben er later naartoe gelopen om wat mooie foto's te maken. Het is een opvallend geheel met veel kleurrijke ramen en een echte vintage uiterlijk. Ik zag ook een mooi Volkswagen busje in de voormalige showroom staan.

Het Servicestation Larenseweg: een benzinestation, garage en showroom werd gebouwd in 1950. Architect H. Bunders ontwierp het gebouw in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen, bestaande uit meerdere kleinschalige blokvormige gepleisterde volumes met een horizontale betonnen dakrandbeëindiging en luifel. De slanke stalen kozijnen, de slank gedetailleerde dakranden en de gebogen vorm zorgden voor een zeer transparant en elegant gebouw. Het servicestation is gelegen op een prominente locatie langs de noordelijke invalsweg van Hilversum, op het kruispunt van de Larenseweg en de Kamerlingh Onnesweg.

In 1966 werd het benzinestation grondig verbouwd naar een ontwerp van A. Stork. De showroom werd verwijderd ten behoeve van een extra pompeiland. De smalle, karakteristieke betonnen dakrand werd vervangen door een brede aluminium rand. De ruimte van de pompbediende werd vergroot tot winkelruimte. Een aantal binnenwanden werd verwijderd en de stalen kozijnen werden plaatselijk vervangen door houten kozijnen.

Tot in 2009 is het gebouw in gebruik geweest als showroom voor klassieke auto’s Daarna is het door Bierman Henkel architecten in de originele staat teruggebracht en is het in gebruik genomen als markante kantoorruimte.

ENG When I drove into Hilversum for a job, I immediately saw this beautiful gas station. I walked there later to take some nice pictures. It is a striking whole with many colorful windows and a real vintage appearance. I also saw a nice Volkswagen van in the former showroom.

The Servicestation Larenseweg: a petrol station, garage and showroom was built in 1950. Architect H. Bunders designed the building in the style of the Nieuwe Bouwen, consisting of several small-scale block-shaped plastered volumes with a horizontal concrete roof edge and awning. The slim steel frames, the slim detailed eaves and the curved shape made for a very transparent and elegant building. The service station is located in a prominent location along the northern approach road to Hilversum, at the intersection of Larenseweg and Kamerlingh Onnesweg.

In 1966 the gas station was thoroughly renovated to a design by A. Stork. The showroom was removed for an extra pump island. The narrow, characteristic concrete roof edge was replaced by a wide aluminum edge. The station attendant's space was expanded into retail space. A number of inner walls were removed and the steel frames were replaced locally by wooden frames.

Until 2009 the building was used as a showroom for classic cars. After that it was restored to its original state by Bierman Henkel architects and it was used as a striking office space.
