Le musée du four des Casseaux est un site classé monument Historique consacré à l’une des céramiques les plus célèbres au monde, la porcelaine de Limoges.

Ce bâtiment industriel du XIXe siècle retrace l’histoire de cette industrie d’art par ses aspects techniques et artistiques mais également par son histoire sociale.

Depuis son ouverture au public en 1992, le four des Casseaux est géré par l’association Espace Porcelaine qui a pour mission la protection et la valorisation du patrimoine industriel de la porcelaine de Limoges.

Construit en 1902 pour la fabrication de la porcelaine, il s'agit de l’unique four rond à flamme renversé encore debout en France
Bien que construit en 1902, il cuit ses premières pièces en 1904 et s’est éteint en 1957. D’architecture industrielle, il a une capacité de 80 mètres cube, pouvant contenir de 10 000 à 15 000 pièces par cuisson. Le principal enjeu de son utilisation se situe dans la maitrise du feu et cela se constate dans le processus de cuisson qui exige près d’une semaine par fournée !

The Casseaux furnace museum is a site classified as a Historic Monument dedicated to one of the most famous ceramics in the world, Limoges porcelain.

This 19th century industrial building traces the history of this art industry through its technical and artistic aspects but also through its social history.

Since it opened to the public in 1992, the Casseaux kiln has been managed by the Espace Porcelaine association, whose mission is to protect and promote the industrial heritage of Limoges porcelain.

Built in 1902 for the manufacture of porcelain, it is the only round overturned flame oven still standing in France.
Although built in 1902, it fired its first pieces in 1904 and died in 1957. Of industrial architecture, it has a capacity of 80 cubic meters, which can contain 10,000 to 15,000 pieces per firing. The main issue of its use lies in the control of the fire and this can be seen in the cooking process which requires almost a week per batch!
