A single public use Fallout Shelter sign remains posted to the northeast corner of Arbor Hill Assisted Living facility, formerly Saint Margaret's Home, on Dean Street in the Federal Hill section of Providence, Rhode Island. The sign is generally in good condition both its form and graphics. However, the listed capacity is no longer visible.

I located this public use shelter listed on pages 24 and 25 in the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Program publication, “Rhode Island Community Shelter Plan: Where to go…What to do…” (undated, but c. 1969-1973); Providence Inset E, Location 3, Saint Margaret's Home - 173 Dean Street. Today it is known as Arbor Hill Assisted Living Community, 153 Dean Street. The 40-page booklet includes a note from Governor Frank Licht, information and instructions, shelter allocation maps by city and town, an explanation of the maps, a family shelter checklist, home supplies, home shelter preparation guidelines, and a final page for general information.

Capacity of shelter: 200

Radiation monitoring equipment: Not Listed
