A thatched premises on a lane leading to the ancient ruins of a Roman fort, Vindolanda.
It is Known as Causeway House and has the only Heather thatched roof in Northumberland, Known locally as "Black thack"

The cottage, the thatched roof is in good condition and property seems well maintained.
A grade 2 listed building and owned by the "Landmark trust"
Note: Roof covering type is not "Reed" there is no option for "Heather"
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark: From the Roman road follow signs for the Vindolanda visitor centre. The cottage is halfway down the lane on the left
