First United Methodist Church is located on the corner of East 3rd and North Dorcas Streets in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. A plaque on a wall of the church notes that "Circuit riders led Methodist services locally as early as 1802," and that the first Methodist Church at this location was built in 1830. The cornerstone for the present building was laid in 1899 and the church was completed in 1900. The church is constructed of gray stone, with one tall tower. The church has a large Tiffany stained glass window depicting the Ascension of Christ into heaven. According to the church's website, "First United Methodist Church has been serving the community for 200 years. The church has been an important part of the social and spiritual development of Lewistown and the surrounding area. We offer a Christ centered ministry through word and deed."
