The map at the Pay Station at the entrance to the park gave us directions to this bridge and the trail on the other side. Guests use this bridge to get across the Pecos River when the water level is high or they don't want to get wet.

On the day of our visit, families were having a blast floating on the river, and dogs were enjoying running through the water and cooling down. The east side of the river was higher to wade through, so children found it easier to cross the bridge to get from the west shore to the east shore.

Directly across the footbridge, from the main drive thru the park, is the Viewpoint Loop Trail, an approximately two mile loop that provides a great view of the Pecos River below and the park. As soon as you step off the footbridge you encounter the dirt/rocky trail, so be careful of your footing.

The bridge has wooden planks with steel supports, and is about 80 feet long, 5 feet wide. The height from the water is about 15 feet.
