Rockwell was founded in 1870 when the railroad passed through the area. It is a corn farming area, and the town has multiple silos. The post office building was constructed in 1892 and continues in service. This is a three-story building, including the basement. It is constructed of red brick trimmed in blue painted wood. The second floor appears to provide living accommodations and is accessed by the door on the left.
