"St. Michael's Church, begun as a mission of the Church of England in 1718, built its present church on Hope Street in 1861 (clock added 1871; steeple altered 1891). This handsome Early Victorian - Gothic style brownstone edifice is the 4th Episcopal Church on the site and was designed by Architects Saeltzer and Valk of New York City with George Ricker of Newark, N. J."
