This statue of William Shakespeare is located on a stone pedestal at the base of the steps leading to Carnegie Music Hall on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The bronze statue depicts the Bard seated, reading a book. A small plaque on the base of the statue has Shakespeare's name on it.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, William Shakespeare was an "English poet, dramatist, and actor often called the English national poet and considered by many to be the greatest dramatist of all time." He was born in the 1560s and in his lifetime wrote more than three dozen plays and more than 150 sonnets. Much of his work is extremely well-known, being standard parts of English curriculum in schools around the world.
