The paintings shows the southern part of the right bank of the Vltava River.
On the right in the foreground is The Šitkovská Water Tower - former waterworks, today part of the art gallery Mánes. The water-tower was built in 1588-1591. The construction works were led by Karel Melnický, a townsman from Prague’s New Town. The water-tower was taken out of service in 1881 and its function was taken over by a new reservoir at Karlov. The old water-tower was thoroughly reconstructed in 1883 and served its purpose until 24th May 1913.
At the back of the horizon is a hill with Prague Castle.
