The building is located in the centre of the village and is set back from Main Road. "The original Wesleyan chapel was built on the site in 1818 at a cost of £250. A new chapel was built and opened on 7th December 1864 by the Revd.M Rattenbury. The building in Main Road has the inscription ‘Wesleyan Chapel 1864’ across the front. It cost £910 to build and, externally remains as it was with ornate brickwork in red, cream and blue.

During the Second World War, German prisoners of war from near by Doddington camp attended the chapel and formed a male voice choir. The services were held in English and German. Sadly, with an ever aging and dwindling congregation, and inspite of the best efforts of those in charge, the Wybunbury Wesleyan chapel closed in May 2008.

The chapel that was built in the late 19th century is currently disused (2017).
Planning applications to convert the building to a residential dwelling were made to Cheshire East Council in 2009. (visit link)
