Langs de A12 ter hoogte van Nieuwegein ligt een bijzonder gebied, de Galecopperzoom. Vooruitlopend op toekomstige ontwikkelingen is hier een pauzelandschap gecreëerd. Dit landschap biedt ruimte aan een aantal bijzondere ontwikkelingen. Een daarvan is het Solarpark Galecop. Het zonnepark is eind 2017, begin 2018 gebouwd. In maart 2018 is de energieproductie gestart. Het park is 5 ha groot en heeft een vermogen van ruim 2 MWp. Daarmee is het park extensief opgezet en biedt het volop ruimte aan natuur. Naast energieproductie huisvest het park een kudde schapen van ca 40 stuks. Zij zorgen voor het groenbeheer, zodat het groen niet zodanig hoog wordt dat er schaduw ontstaat op de panelen. Daarnaast houden we bijen op het solarpark om een bijdrage te leveren aan de natuurlijke bestuiving en daarmee de biodiversiteit te bevorderen.
Tevens biedt het park ruimte aan een zonnestroomproject van E-lekstroom. Dit project is 2019 gerealiseerd en telt ruim 400 zonnepanelen.

Along the A12 motorway near Nieuwegein lies a special area, the Galecopperzoom. In anticipation of future developments, a pause landscape has been created here. This landscape offers space for a number of special developments. One of these is the Solarpark Galecop. The solar park was built at the end of 2017, beginning of 2018. Energy production started in March 2018. The park is 5 ha in size and has a capacity of over 2 MWp. As such, the park is extensively laid out and offers plenty of space for nature. In addition to energy production, the park houses a flock of about 40 sheep. They take care of the green management, so that the greenery does not grow so high that it casts a shadow on the panels. In addition, we keep bees at the solar park to contribute to natural pollination and thus promote biodiversity.
The park also provides space for a solar power project of E-lekstroom. This project was realised in 2019 and has over 400 solar panels.
