On the top of this fountain named Fuente de los Gigantones, there is the statue of Neptune, in the left hand a trident and the right raised towards the sky.
Neptuno:
"Neptune is a god of Roman mythology , but from Greek mythology , son of the gods Saturn and Ops , brother of Jupiter and Pluto . He rules all the waters and seas and rides the waves on white horses. All the inhabitants of the waters must obey him and he is known as Poseidon in Greek mythology.
Neptune chose the sea as his home and in its depths there is a kingdom of golden castles. With his powerful trident he shakes the waves, makes fountains and springs sprout wherever he wants and directs his anger causing fearsome earthquakes or earthquakes.
Representations of Neptune in Roman mosaics, especially those from North Africa, are influenced by Hellenistic conventions . Neptune was probably associated with freshwater springs before the sea. Like Poseidon, he was worshiped by the Romans also as a god of horses, under the name of Equestrian Neptune, patron saint of horse racing.
This god is a king inseparable from his horses. For this and more reasons, he is symbolized by a horse. Neptune does not wear sumptuous clothing, as his appearance is enough to demonstrate his might.
The god of the seas is a very dangerous and unstable element, with his emotions he can cause from terrible storms and tempests to calm and peaceful waves, so no one ever tries to provoke him without an important reason."
