An anchor from the BC Ferry, MV Queen of Nanaimo. The Queen of Nanaimo was a Burnaby-class ferry completed by Victoria Machinery Depot Ltd. in 1964. It was lengthened from 104.4m to 130.0m in 1974. It had 2 major refits in 2010 and 2015. It serviced Route 2 – Departure Bay (Nanaimo)-Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) until 1976, then Route 9 – Southern Gulf Islands (Salt Spring to Galiano, Mayne, Pender)-Tsawwassen (Vancouver). It was removed from service in 2017 and sold to Goundar Shipping Ltd for service in Fiji. It remained in service there until this year and appears to be on it's way to the Alang Ship Breaking Yard.

The anchor was donated to the City of Nanaimo in 2017.

The building the anchor is beside was opened in 2011.
