This juvenile Box Turtle (only a few years old, judging by the size) was crossing N2940 Road from east to west just north of Azalea Road, northeast of Piedmont. I assisted the little fellow to the grass and waited for another photo op but he was too shy to emerge from this shell. Her shell. Whatever.
