DE: Die heutige katholische Pfarrkirche St. Severin im Brühler Stadtteil Schwadorf geht auf eine kleine, im 12. Jahrhundert erbaute einschiffige Kirche gleichen Namens zurück, die 1874 aus Platzmangel abgerissen wurde. Der Deutzer Kommunal–Baumeister Müller entwarf den Neubau ebenfalls einschiffig im neugotischen Baustil, als Baumaterial wurde hier rotbraun gebrannter Backstein verwendet. Grundsteinlegung für die neue Kirche war im Mai 1874, im Oktober 1875 konnte die Kirche dann eingeweiht werden.
Am nördlichen Ende der Kirche befindet sich der Eingangsbereich mit dem etwa 40m hohen Glockenturm, am südlichen Ende der Kirche wurde ein verkleinerter Chorbereich angebracht. Die Kreuzigungsgruppe hinter dem Altar mit dem Kruzifix in der Mitte sowie Maria und Johannes zu den Seiten stammt noch aus der Vorgängerkirche und wurde auf das 15. Jahrhundert datiert. Den zweiten Weltkrieg überstand das Kirchengebäude recht gut, allerdings mussten viele der künstlerischen Glasarbeiten, die hauptsächlich biblische Motive zeigen, ersetzt werden.
Für Besichtigungen ist die Kirche im Allgemeinen Dienstags bis Freitags sowie Sonntags von 10 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet, Gottesdienste finden regelmäßig im Zwei-Wochen-Rhytmus Donnerstags um 9:00 statt.

EN: Today's Catholic parish church of St. Severin in the Schwadorf district of Brühl goes back to a small, single-nave church of the same name built in the 12th century, which was demolished in 1874 due to lack of space. The Deutzer municipal master builder Müller designed the new building, also with a single nave in the neo-Gothic style, and red-brown baked brick was used as the building material. The foundation stone for the new church was laid in May 1874, and the church was consecrated in October 1875.
At the northern end of the church is the entrance area with the approximately 40m high bell tower, at the southern end of the church a smaller choir area was attached. The crucifixion group behind the altar with the crucifix in the middle and Mary and John on the sides comes from the previous church and was dated to the 15th century. The church building survived the Second World War quite well, although many of the artistic glass works, which mainly show biblical motifs, had to be replaced.
The church is generally open for visits Tuesday to Friday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., services are held regularly every two weeks on Thursdays at 9 a.m.
