Located in the Maffeo Sutton Park, the Lagoon is a salt water tidal pool that was built in 1980 in an expansion of the park. The beach is sandy that transitions to gravel as you move out into the lagoon. There is a ramp down to the beach for strollers and wheelchairs. There are no lifeguards. The park is open 06:00 to 23:00 from the Spring to early Fall. 06:00 to 21:00 during the winter.
From May 1st to October 1st, dogs are not allowed on Nanaimo's public beaches including this one.
