Es el mayor de los aljibes islámicos de Granada ( 300 m² ) , construído para abastecer de agua la zona áulica de la antigua alcazaba zirí , donde se ubicó el palacio del rey Badis. De planta basilical , consta de cuatro naves cubiertas con bóveda de cañón separadas por tres galerías de arcos de medio punto sobre pilares cuadrados . Las lumbreras de sus bóvedas indican que debió tener una estructura aterrazada para recoger el agua de lluvia , además de la procedente de la acequia de Aynadamar . La boca dal aljibe es de Construcción moderma , con sencilla portada de arco de medio punto con alfiz . El "Carmen" que lo acoge , restaurado en 2005 , contiene un jardin de nueva creación."

It is the largest of the Islamic cisterns of Granada (300 sqm), built to supply water courtly area of the old kasbah zirí, where the palace of King Badis stood. Basilica plan consists of four naves covered with barrel vaults separated by three galleries of arches on square pillars. Louvers vaults indicate that must have a terraced structure to collect rainwater, besides from the drain of Aynadamar. Dal mouth Aljibe Construction moderma with simple cover of half point arch with alfiz. The "Carmen" that welcomes renovated in 2005, contains a newly created garden."
