This dam is located at the southern end of Pymatuning Reservoir at Pymatuning State Park near Jamestown, Pennsylvania. Construction was begun on the dam in 1931, and it was completed in 1934. The dam helped to create the reservoir, which was previously a swamp area, and to control flooding in the Shenango River basin. At the west end of the dam is stone gatehouse which contains the controls for the dam. This gatehouse, with its stone bridge connecting it to the mainland, is a commonly-visited and photographed area in the park. The gatehouse was renovated and restored in 2017.
