NL Langs de Waalbandijk in Ochten vind je een bankje met een herinneringsplaat voor de situatie in de winter van 1995, toen de rivier de Waal het dorp Ochten dreigde te overstromen. Het dorp is toen geëvacueerd geweest en met man en macht (ook met hulp van defensie) is gewerkt om een overstroming tegen te gaan. Dat is net gelukt. Op deze plek staat nu ook een peilschaal om de stand van de rivier af te meten. Toen ik het bezocht kwam de rivier nog lang niet in de buurt van de peilschaal.
ENG Along the Waalbandijk in Ochten you will find a bench with a plaque commemorating the situation in the winter of 1995, when the river Waal threatened to flood the village of Ochten. The village was then evacuated and man and might (also with defense help) were employed to prevent a flood. That just was prevented. There is now also a gauge to measure the level of the river. When I visited it, the river was nowhere near the gauge.
