A small sign providing background about the bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa) can be found in front of two good examples just inside the entrance to Lake Tawakoni State Park, 10822 FM 2475, Wills Point, TX.

The elder of the two trees provides some nice shade for those who have to use the self pay station, and the younger provides a little protection for those having a look at the park sign. This one is just south of the parking area after you've entered the park at the ranger station.

This type of tree is quite prominent throughout this beautiful park.
