The current Castlemaine Presbyterian Church was previously owned by the Castlemaine Congregational Church which in turn became the Uniting Church.
The former Congregational Church erected in 1862 of dichromatic brickwork in a florid decorated Gothic Revival style.The church has a slate roof supported on locally-cast cast iron columns. The symmetrical facade is divided into three bays, with the central nave section featuring a triple lancet window of coloured glass. Two flanking entrance bays contain doors with elaborate wrought iron strap work, and large pinnacles flank the entrance porches and the main facade itself. Paired lancet windows line the aisles
