Drake lived at Wiscombe Park and was the brother of Sir Bernard Drake of Colcombe Castle, and the cousin of the Elizabethan seafaring hero, Sir Francis Drake.
"When Sir Robert Drake was born in 1528, in Wiscombe Park, Devon, England, his father, Sir John Drake VI, was 28 and his mother, Anne (Amy) (Greenfield) GRENVILLE, was 15. He married Lady Elizabeth Prideaux on 1 January 1544, in Wiscombe Park, Devon, England. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 30 March 1600, in Southleigh, Devon, England, United Kingdom, at the age of 72, and was buried in Southleigh, Devon, England."
