The National Trust has provided the following information to get to the Templetown Mausoleum which is inside the Old Burying Ground.
On foot: Signposted from the main road that runs through Templepatrick village, follow the [National Trust] sign down the laneway and then follow the tree-lined avenue and through the iron gates into the Graveyard.
Parking
There is no conventional parking available at Templetown Mausoleum. It is recommended you park elsewhere and walk to the site. Follow the guidance above.
The cemetery is maintained by the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. According to their website, cemeteries are not open before 8 a.m. I wish that I had been aware of that information.
Burials here date back to the 1730s and likely earlier. Many of the monuments refer to residents of Castle Upton.
Even though the fact was kept secret for 200 years, William Orr (1766-1797) is buried here.
The South Antrim Heritage Trail has posted a sign board along the lane to the cemetery. There is no specific signage for the cemetery.
Castle Upton property is private property.
