Het H. HARTBEELD is het middelpunt van een halfronde MUUR met open arcade en in 1922 geplaatst op een voetstuk dat evenals de arcade in een min of meer Neo-Bbarokke stijl teruggrijpt op de vormentaal van de basiliek. Het is vervaardigd in het atelier van de Eindhovense beeldhouwer J. Custers. Voor het beeld bevindt zich een hekwerk.
Omschrijving.
Natuurstenen beeld van het H. Hart met zegenende handen, in de gebruikelijke neogotische vormentaal, geplaatst op een rijzig voetstuk, geleed door enige ojiefprofielen. Op de hoeken voluten, welke aan de voorzijde een bronzen gedenkplaat omlijsten met de tekst 'Christo/ rigi suo/ amantissimo/ cives veteri/ buscenses/ die 15a augusti 1922'. Het beeld is op de grondplaat gesigneerd Jan Custers. Achter het beeld bevindt zich een halfronde in baksteen uitgevoerde muur met ondiepe cassetten, waarboven een naar de Romeinse barok (Sint-Pietersplein) verwijzende gepleisterde colonnade met rondbogen op vierkante kolommen. Het beeld staat in een plantsoen dat door een smeedijzeren hek met sierkruisen van de straat wordt gescheiden.
Waardering.
Beeld, muur en hekwerk zijn van algemeen belang. Het geheel heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de katholieke devotiecultuur; het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de plaats in het oeuvre van de beeldhouwer Custers en de diversiteit aan toegepaste stijlen. Het en ander is onderdeel van een groter geheel, de kern van Oudenbosch, dat stedenbouwkundig van belang is en vanwege de situering welke verbonden is met de ontwikkeling van Oudenbosch en het is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

The statue of the Sacred Heart is the centrepiece of a semicircular WALL with an open arcade and was placed in 1922 on a pedestal which, like the arcade, harks back to the formal language of the basilica in a more or less Neo-Baroque style. It was made in the studio of the Eindhoven sculptor J. Custers. In front of the statue there is a fence.
Description.
Natural stone statue of the Sacred Heart with blessing hands, in the usual neo-Gothic style, placed on a columnar pedestal, articulated by a number of ogee profiles. On the corners volutes, which frame on the front a bronze commemorative plate with the text 'Christo/ rigi suo/ amantissimo/ cives veteri/ buscenses/ die 15a augusti 1922'. The sculpture is signed Jan Custers on the base plate. Behind the statue there is a semi-circular brick wall with shallow cassettes, above which there is a plastered colonnade with round arches on square columns, referring to the Roman Baroque (St Peter's Square). The statue stands in a park, which is separated from the street by a wrought-iron fence with decorative crosses.
Appreciation.
The statue, wall and fence are of general importance. The entirety has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a spiritual development, namely the Catholic devotional culture; it has architectural-historical value because of the place in the oeuvre of the sculptor Custers and the diversity of applied styles. It is part of a larger whole, the core of Oudenbosch, which is of importance from an urban planning point of view and because of its location which is connected with the development of Oudenbosch and it has been preserved intact.
