A young girl by the name of Frances Slocum was kidnapped from her Wilkes-Barre area home by Delaware Indians on November 2, 1778. Little Frances was never to see most of her family again until over 60 years later, when two of her brothers tracked her down in Indiana where she was discovered, the widow of an Indian Chief.
The night that Frances was kidnapped, she spent the night in the shelter of this rock formation in what is now Frances Slocum State Park.
Beautiful views of the park lake and pine forests from the same location as the rock shelter.
