Initiiert und verwirklicht wurde das Projekt von der Metop GmbH, einem so genannten An-Institut der Magdeburger Otto-von-Guericke-Universität. Es bemüht sich um junge Menschen, die sich im Prozess der Berufsfindung befinden oder für eine Erwerbstätigkeit sensibilisiert werden sollen.
Man sei mit der Gruppe ein Stück dieses Pilgerweges hier bei Lostau selbst entlanggegangen und habe sich dabei überlegt, wie und an welcher Stelle auf diesen internationalen Weg aufmerksam gemacht werden kann, erklärt Thomas Kauer, Projektleiter "Integration von Altbewerbern in Lehre und Beruf" das Vorgehen.
Dabei sei dieser Platz bei Lostau ausgewählt worden. Es entstand die Idee, aus sieben Muscheln einen Kreis zu bilden. In der Mitte befindet sich ein in einen Betonkreis eingelassener Kompass. Die Muscheln tragen die Bezeichnungen der sieben Tugenden: Weisheit, Gerechtigkeit, Tapferkeit, Mäßigung, Glaube, Liebe und Hoffnung. Der Kompass in der Mitte zeigt auf, dass die Menschen sich immer wieder neu "einordnen" sollten, um diese Tugenden und ethischen Ansprüche nicht aus dem Blick zu verlieren.
Auch die Herstellung der Betonteile lag in den Händen des Metop-Teams, erläutert Thomas Kauer. Als Gussformen für die Muscheln dienten Plastikspielsandkästen für Kinder. Ohne jegliche Maschine haben die jungen Leute die schweren Betonteile vom Fahrzeug gewuchtet und ausgerichtet. Später soll noch Rasen gesät und eine Informationstafel aufgestellt werden.
Das Projekt wird vom Europäischen Sozialfonds und vom Land Sachsen-Anhalt finanziert."
