The draped obelisk with crossed rifles stands on a typical Petrie base near the waterfront, beside the main highway at the Kirra end of Marine Parade. The memorial is on a concrete base, set into the curve of colourful garden beds.
The plaque reads:
Erected by the residents in honour of those who served their King and Country during the Great War 1914-1919
This memorial has outstanding significance as an example of the work of A L Petrie and Son, Brisbane.
