Het Klooster Woerden
Het Klooster is een unieke plek in Woerden, waar kunst en cultuur samenkomen. Iedereen, van jong tot oud, kan er kennismaken met alle vormen van theater, muziek en dans. Het Klooster is het enige theater in Nederland dat gebouwd is in een voormalige kloostertuin. Het gebouw stamt uit 1899 en is gebouwd in opdracht van de Franciscanenorde. In 1978 ging, na de leegloop van deze orde in Woerden, het klooster over in handen van de gemeente Woerden en werd de streekmuziekschool erin gevestigd.
Theater
Tegenwoordig is in Het Klooster een theater en een kunstencentrum gevestigd. Het theater biedt ieder jaar een gevarieerd programma, waarin alle theatergenres vertegenwoordigd zijn. Dit jaar komen bijvoorbeeld Wilfried de Jong, Carrie Tefsen, Reneé Soutendijk, Sanne Wallis de Vries en Pieter Derks. De dansers van ISH en de musici van het Orkest van het Oosten. De muzikale vrienden van Jan Kanis tijdens de SuperSundays en de bands die op doorbreken staan tijdens Nachtklooster. De bijzondere locatie en de intimiteit van de theaterzaal maken een theaterbezoek in Het Klooster tot een bijzondere belevenis.

The Monastery Woerden
The Klooster is a unique place in Woerden, where art and culture come together. Everyone, from young to old, can get to know all forms of theatre, music and dance. The Klooster is the only theatre in the Netherlands built in a former convent garden. The building dates from 1899 and was commissioned by the Franciscan order. In 1978, after this order left Woerden, the convent became the property of the municipality of Woerden and the regional music school was established there.
Theatre
Today, the Klooster houses a theatre and an arts centre. Every year, the theatre offers a varied programme in which all theatre genres are represented.
