Kimolan kanava valmistui 1966 puutavaran uittoa varten, se on 5,5km pitkä kokonaan ihmisen tekemän kanava. Väylä remontoitiin veneilyä varten ja se avattiin kunnostettuna 3. elokuuta 2020. Se mahdollistaa yli 400km pitkän veneilyreitistön.
Entisen padon tilalle rakennettiin 12 metriä korkea sulku jonka alapuolella on 70 metriä pitkä kalliotunneli. Tunnelia ja sulkua saa käyttää itsepalveluna, kanavassa on ohjeet kuinka toimia.
Molemmilla puolilla tunnelia on näköalatasanteet joista pääsee katsomaan sulun toimintaa ja tunnelia, lisäksi alueella on hyvä parkkipaikka isommallekin joukolle.
Kimola's canal was built 1966 for log driving, it is 5,5km long and fully made by human. Canal was renovated for boating and it was opened 3rd August 2020. It allows you to travel over 400km with a boat.
Former dam was changed to 12 meters high lock and below it there is a 70 meters long tunnel through rock. Tunnel and lock is available free of charge self service, there are instructions at the tunnel.
Both ends of this tunnel has their own viewing platforms where you can see tunnel and lock in action. In addition there is a good wide parking area.
