The Roger Williams Park Zoo commemorated its 150th anniversary by burying a time capsule below a beloved bronze dog statue on the first day of April 2022. It is intended to be re-opened after 50 years. To find the location, head to the southern part of the property. The life-sized The Sentinel sculpture is on a brick-paved plaza between the gift shop building and Nourish 401 Café.

Though it hadn't yet been installed on the day of my visit -- April 17, 2022 -- the dedication plaque can be seen in this video clip from local television station WPRI 12:

APRIL 1, 2002

THE TIME CAPSULE BENEATH THE SENTINEL DOG IS
DEDICATED TO THE HISTORY OF THE ZOO OF THE PAST,
THE VISION OF THE ZOO OF THE PRESENT, AND THE
PROMISE OF THE ZOO OF THE FUTURE.

TO BE OPENED JULY 4, 2072

The time capsule, the hole, and the temporarily moved Sentinel Dog statue are also in the clip which was filmed at the burial location prior to the ceremony. The container is a corrugated black PVC cylinder with a forest green lid. It looks to be about two feet tall and two feet in diameter (60 cm x 60 cm) with seven sets of ridges and valleys.

A temporary signboard at the site listed the contents:
