A sculpture of an adult bison and its calf will greet you as you walk the Wildlife Encounter Nature Trail at the Heritage Park of Flower Mound, 600 Spinks Rd, Flower Mound, TX, and an interpretive sign provides a little information about them.

No longer considered to be endangered but obviously nowhere as plentiful as they were long ago, it's an uncommon treat to see a bison, let alone a herd of them, grazing in a pasture nearby. They're a little more common as you get away from Flower Mound and into rural areas: The drive between Justin and New Fairview to the west offers some good viewing opportunities.

This sign provides a nice photo of a pair of American Bison, standing alert in a meadow. It provides some of its characteristics, noting the confusion as to how we erroneously refer to them as "buffalo", along with a hoof print.
