Bendochy is a parish in the rural flatlands of Strathmore in the eastern part of Perthshire between the towns of Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie. It mainly consists of a few scattered farms and country dwellings along a narrow minor road that heads in a general north-eastward direction from the A923 road to the north of Coupar Angus.
Around a couple of miles along this road on the western side is a red telephone box that once would have housed the only means of communication in the area. Now defunct, the box was purchased from British Telecom for £1 by the local community and was initially in use for local information. It soon was turned into a free library and is now well stocked with books, so much that an extra shelf was put in to cope with demand.
