Benjamin Franklin founded the Associators. This group, founded in Philadelphia on November 21, 1747, was made up of civilian men from Pennsylvania. The Associators fought with General Washington and the Continental Army along the Delaware River. This group later became the 1st Battilion, 111th Infantry Regiment of the US Army.


The plaque reads:
