De Kaasbel ziet er bijzonder uit ( beter dan mijn tekening ) en dat is het ook. De Kaasbel is in 1925 geplaatst ter ere van het vijftigjarig bestaan van de Woerdense Kaasmarkt. Het is niet zomaar een bel, nee, de Kaasbel heeft echt een functie. Op de Kaasbel werd aangegeven hoeveel kaas er was aangevoerd en wat de prijs hiervan was. Wat ook nog leuk is om te weten is dat de gegevens van de kaasmarkt in Bodegraven op de kaasbel werden genoteerd. Woerden en Bodegraven waren elkaars grootste concurrenten en daarbij ook de leiders in de kaasmarkten.

The Kaasbel ( cheese bell ) looks special ( better than my drawing ) and it is. The Kaasbel was placed in 1925 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Woerden Cheese Market. It is not just a bell, no, the Kaasbel really has a function. The Kaasbel indicated how much cheese had been brought in and what the price was. What is also nice to know is that the details of the cheese market in Bodegraven were noted on the cheese bell. Woerden and Bodegraven were each other's biggest competitors and also leaders in the cheese markets.
