The Dedham Public Library is located on 43 Church St. in the heart of the residential neighborhood of Dedham Village. The building was constructed in 1888 in the Richardson Romanesque style according to designs developed by Van Brunt & Howe. The Dedham Public Library was originally established in 1871 in an Act of Incorporation. It was located in rented quarters at the corner of Court Street and Norfolk Street, a building no longer in existence.
