Barton College was founded in 1902 and is a four year four year private liberal arts school. Their mascot is the bulldog and their colors are blue and white. This bulldog is a bronze sculpture that is situated on the walkway of the circular drive around the bell tower. It sits upon a granite base and stands about four feet tall. The plaque in front of the base of the sculpture reads:
