De botanische tuin ligt in park Brakkenstein.
Park Brakkenstein is een park in de wijk Heijendaal van de Nederlandse stad Nijmegen. Het park is onderdeel van het voormalig landgoed Brakkesteyn. Het park ligt ingeklemd tussen de spoorlijn Nijmegen - Venlo, de Radboud Universiteit en de d'Almarasweg.
Het landgoed werd voor het eerst vermeld in 1654. In de 18e eeuw werd er een sterrenbos aangelegd. In 1863 werd het landhuis afgebroken en in 1865 werd op die plaats een witte villa gebouwd huize Brakkesteyn. In 1915 werd het landgoed eigendom van dezelfde eigenaar als het aangrenzende landgoed Heyendaal[bron?] en werd dit één aaneengesloten gebied. In 1916 werd een stalhouderij met koetshuis gebouwd en in de jaren '30 een tuinmanswoning, een waterput en nieuwe toegangspoorten. Tuinarchitect Samuel Voorhoeve maakte het park in die periode in zijn huidige vorm.
In 1941 eindigde de bewoning van de villa en werd in het pand de kliniek voor neurologie van het Canisius-Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis ondergebracht die daar tot 1966 zou blijven. Na enkele jaren leegstand werd in huize Brakkesteyn een restaurant gevestigd en werd het landgoed een openbaar park.
Een deel van het park is tussen 1969 en 1971 door de Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen bewerkt tot een botanische tuin, de huidige Hortus Nijmegen. In de villa is nu een restaurant gevestigd. Het park wordt ook gebruikt voor de paardensport en de jaarlijkse Music Meeting (sinds 2004) en festival FortaRock (2009–2012) worden er gehouden.

For example, you can walk through a peat swamp via the club path and a path meanders along the mountain stream to down that takes you to the pond. Many spring bloomers and Stinzen plants bloom in the grasslands in the spring, while the heathland is interesting again in the autumn."

The botanical garden is located in Brakkenstein Park.
Park Brakkenstein is a park in the Heijendaal district of the Dutch city of Nijmegen. The park is part of the former Brakkesteyn estate. The park is wedged between the Nijmegen - Venlo railway line, Radboud University and the d'Almarasweg.
The estate was first mentioned in 1654. A star forest was created in the 18th century. In 1863 the country house was demolished and in 1865 a white villa was built on the site of the Brakkesteyn house. In 1915 the estate became the property of the same owner as the adjacent Heyendaal estate[source?] and this became one continuous area. In 1916 a livery stable with coach house was built and in the 1930s a gardener's house, a well and new entrance gates. Garden architect Samuel Voorhoeve created the park in its current form during that period.
In 1941, occupation of the villa ended and the building housed the neurology clinic of the Canisius-Wilhelmina Hospital, which would remain there until 1966. After several years of vacancy, a restaurant was established in the Brakkesteyn house and the estate became a public park.
Part of the park was converted into a botanical garden by the Catholic University of Nijmegen between 1969 and 1971, the current Hortus Nijmegen. The villa now houses a restaurant. The park is also used for equestrian sports and hosts the annual Music Meeting (since 2004) and FortaRock festival (2009–2012).
