This M60 Patton tank was presented by the American Legion Post 150 of Frankenmuth as a tribute to the efforts and devotion of Michigan's Own Military and Space Museum to honor the men and women of Michigan for their outstanding wartime service.
The United States M60 Patton was produced by the Chrysler Corportation beginning in 1959 and was first placed in service in 1961. The M60, operated by a four-man crew, was fitted with a 105mm M68 main gun, a 7.62mm M73 coaxial machine gun and 12.7mm M85 machine gun. The M60 could reach a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour with a range of 350 miles.
