"Lone Elm Prairie was named for a tree which once stood southwest of the village on the Oglesby farm. Trees were a rarity on Cooper County prairie land as the tough grasses resisted the growth of trees.
In the first meeting of the Zion congregation, it was decided to build a church and parsonage near Lone Elm, Missouri. A tract of land consisting of five acres; just a little south of Lone Elm store was acquired from Mr. William Twillman. A part of this land was laid out as the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
"This cemetery was canvased by Katherine, Dorothy, and Fannie for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 02 May 1961. Any difference from that survey and the original document are given in Blue. This document has also been updated with entries from Cooper County Record of Deaths which are given in Red. Entries Orange are taken from the State of Missouri online Death Reports. Additional entries and additions from Joyce Blue." ~ Cooper MoGenWeb
