In the middle of the square Fisktorget stands the bronze sculpture Fiskargumman (The fishwife). The statue is life-size and created by the artist Erik Höglund.
The fish market (Fisktorget)has existed for more than three hundred years and has throughout the years been a marketplace where fish and vegetables were sold. It was often the wives or daughters of the fishermen who sold fish. In 1985, Fisketorvet was completed after a major renovation. The opening of the newly renovated fish market was a big event and in that connection the sculpture of the fishwife was made.
Sector of the workforce: Fish wife
Created or Donated by which group: Erik Höglund
