With the growth of the textile industry Adams, MA became an important mill town which resulted in an expansion of its population. This led to the establishment of the Congregational Church in 1840. The present Romanesque Revival style church was built in 1867.

The white wooden clapboard covered church is situated on a steep hillside. A set of steps connects the church from a semi-oval driveway. The main block of the church has a gable roof and is three bays wide. It has a central double door entrance within a rounded arch. The entrance is flanked by narrow window set within rounded arches. The second level has large central stained glass window flanked by narrower windows. Above the central window is a circular window.

Two towers are on the north and south sides of the main block. Both towers have steps leading to entrances on the lower level. The south tower is the taller of the two. Its second level has a double window below a circular window. It is topped by a belfry with open arched windows and a pyramidal roof. The north tower has matching double windows on the second and third levels and a tapered pyramidal roof.

The sides of the church are sis bays wide. Each bay has a large double window with rounded tops. The back of the south side has an extension which connects it to the adjacent building.
