This stretch of 36 has a long uphill climb. The road curves to follow the surrounding landscape. The curves turned right and left, and was sharp enough to be called "Devil's Elbow."

Since there were so many accidents, the road has since been rerouted with softer curves. But the area is still known as, "Devil's Elbow."

There is a local tale of a ghost that haunts this section of road. She was killed on the curve and appears to some travellers.
