Selon le site web de la Paroisse Sainte-Madelaine, les premières familles s'établissent sur son territoire (faisant partie de la Seignerie de Rigaud) vers 1783. Les premières inscriptions dans les registres datent de 1802.
La construction de l'église est décidée en 1819 et sera terminée en 1822. La bénédiction du temple a lieu le 17 juillet 1822. L’érection canonique sera obtenue le 4 mai 1830.
En 1917, les paroissiens de Sainte-Madeleine de Rigaud entreprennent sous soumission, des travaux de restauration et d’agrandissement de l’église paroissiale. Entre 1919 et 1920, celle-ci est érigée en pierre dans le style corinthien, selon les plans des architectes Louis-Zéphirin Gauthier et Joseph-Égide-Césaire Daoust.
La nouvelle église sera officiellement bénite le 12 septembre 1920 par Monseigneur Émard.

This Roman Catholic church is located on Saint-Jean-Baptiste East Street in Rigaud, Quebec.
According to the website of the Parish of Sainte-Madelaine, the first families settled on its territory (part of the Seignerie de Rigaud) around 1783. The first entries in the registers date from 1802.
The construction of the church was decided in 1819 and was completed in 1822. The blessing of the temple took place on July 17, 1822. The canonical erection was obtained on May 4, 1830.
In 1917, the parishioners of Sainte-Madeleine de Rigaud decided to restore and enlarge the parish church. Between 1919 and 1920, it was erected in stone in the Corinthian style, according to the plans of the architects Louis-Zéphirin Gauthier and Joseph-Égide-Césaire Daoust.
The new church was officially blessed on September 12, 1920 by Monseigneur Émard.
